Traveling With Teenagers: Great Vacation Spots

A family vacation can either be the most relaxing or most stressful event of the year. There are so many details to take care of, from the mode of transportation to the contents of your suitcase, but with luck they result in a ton of fun! The first thing to take care of is finding a really great place to go. Appeasing everyone (especially a teenager) is difficult, but there are plenty of fun spots within reach.

In Texas:

  • San Antonio

As one of the most bustling cities in Texas, San Antonio has no shortage of activities. The San Antonio RiverWalk flows throughout the city and offers boat tours and all sorts of sights and sounds. The Alamo, an important part of Texas history, can be toured on any day; and SeaWorld has dozens of rides, attractions, and wildlife to visit.

  • Dallas

This is the perfect place for lovers of history with the JFK Assassination and Museum Tour. Sports fans can explore the Dallas Cowboys stadium, and kayaking tours are held at Grapevine Lake. Kids and teenagers alike will have plenty of fun at Legoland!

.

  • Austin

The capital of Texas holds both nature and urban activities. You can explore the outdoors at Zilker Metropolitan Park, Lady Bird Lake, and UMLAUF Sculpture Garden. The Moody Theatre has music and live shows, and South Congress Avenue is full of culture and shopping to enjoy.

.

  • South Padre Island

If you’re looking for an in-state beach getaway, this is the spot. South Padre has some of the best beaches in Texas and offers snorkeling, dolphin watching, boat rides, and more! For animal enthusiasts, Sea Turtle Inc. and Coastal Studies Lab is a great way to learn about native wildlife.

  • Big Bend National Park

Thousands of acres for nature lovers to explore. There are any number of activities such as hiking, camping, biking, stargazing, and floating the river. Planning this trip is not for the weak, but it will be rewarding!

Out of State:

  • Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles is never quiet. From the Walt Disney Concert Hall to Malibu Beach, there are things to do and see all day. Explore Universal Studios, take a walk through the arts district, and make sure to see the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

.

  • Washington D.C.

History and culture are alive in this city! Visit the White House and the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum for an architectural and educational experience. The National Gallery of Art displays both modern and traditional work; it’s the perfect chance to expand your knowledge!

  • Destin, Florida

If you’re looking for an outdoor beach week experience, Destin is the way to go. You can go tubing, tour the Everglades, and dolphin watch in the water! There’s all the attraction of Miami with less of the crowds.

.

  • Nashville, Tennessee

This is the center of music and expression. Anyone with an interest in performance art will love Nashville; a tour of the city’s music and history is sure to interest. For those intrigued by the paranormal, the Ghosts of Nashville tour will be right up your alley!

  • Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

The beautiful wildlife of Yellowstone offers a perfect break from stress. Mammoth Hot Springs, Old Faithful, and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone are all must-sees for any teen or parent. Just watch out for bears (or Bigfoot!).

Don’t miss out on any of these vacation spots. Traveling with teenagers can be rough, but who can say no to trips like these?
